In memory of Aleksander Wat

it looks
it sees

at a single
(infinitesimally small)
the consciousness of the universe

the thing it looks at –
where does it come from?

how to imagine
the impossible beginning
that happened
just once?

this happens rather incessantly
both ways at once
the world comes into being
and perishes

we’re always at square one
that was ever to
or is yet to come to be
has already come to be

has already perished
and is yet to perish
