THE LUST OF LEAVES FOR LIGHT

In POETRY by Harrison Rappaport0 Comments

at times,
I am no more.

then,
drunk with presence —

there is no Path
except right here,
right now.

no Prize
but the gentle unfolding
of this moment.

no Person,

just a vast, bright expanse;
shimmering,
awake.

the same Holy Life
in my eyes,
in the old oak

in the creeping philodendrons,
emerald,
burgeoning —

in the blissful lust of leaves for sunlight.
