In EMPOWERMENT by Frans Stiene7 Comments

A real practitioner or teacher isn’t doing the healing for you. Instead she creates a space in which you can rediscover your own innate healing power. Real healing is about rediscovering your own innate power. Often we give this power away to a practitioner or a teacher. We start to rely on them. They will make us better, or they will do some magical ritual and suddenly we are enlightened. But we all know that this is just an illusion; it doesn’t work that way. Often we want it that way because it means we do not have to do anything at all; the practitioner or the teacher will do the hard work for us. However, it is a lazy way out and this kind of thinking leaves us unempowered.

A real practitioner or teacher helps us to find that innate power within us again. She will teach us how to empower ourselves, and how to discover what we have forgotten, our own innate healing power. However, if the practitioner or teacher doesn’t know how to access his own innate healing power, then it will be very difficult for him to help us to rediscover ours. But what is this innate healing power in the first place?

The real innate healing power is our true identity in its fullest, because in this state we are so open and expanded, like space. And thus we have a tremendous amount of free flowing energy. When we remember our true identity, our mind has become clear like a mirror. Thus the practitioner or teacher holds up the mirror of her true identity and therefore we can see very clearly our own true identity in the reflection. But if the mirror is dusty with attachments, ego, worry, anger, fear, then we can not see anything at all. We might just get a small glimmer of our true identity, of our own innate power to heal ourselves, but that is it. Thus it is of utmost importance that the practitioner or teacher makes sure the mirror of their own mind is crystal clear. Else there is nothing to show.

When the mirror is not clear, a practitioner or teacher might even start to enforce in us the codependent idea that only he or she can do it for you. It might even feel as if they take your power away, instead of empowering you. Thus the clearer the practitioner or teacher’s mind is, the clearer the space she can create—a clear space in which we can remember our own innate healing power.

I love travel, teaching and writing, and have been teaching meditation internationally for over seventeen years. I am passionate about studying Japanese esoteric Buddhist teachings like Shingon, Tendai, and Shugendo, and then teaching them from a less strict viewpoint so that we all can benefit from these wonderful teachings. My main focus is helping people to remember their own true identity, because it is only through remembering this that we can start to create a world full of compassion and wisdom. My website. Thanks Dawn,
Yes faith is an important one. For me real faith comes from our direct experience of our personal practice. So the more we practice the deeper and more stable our faith will be.
You will remember your innate faith again!

Thank you for this awesome post, Mr. Stiene. In it’s brevity you have captured such depth of truth. A lot for me to ponder and take in to make my own.

In your third paragraph you write, “But if the mirror is dusty with attachments, ego, worry, anger, fear, then we can not see anything at all.”. Goodness, I certainly have a very dusty mirror. For myself, I would have to add “lack of faith” to my list. For myself, I believe lack of faith in myself and in healing itself is my greatest challenge at this point in my life, and has been for a very long time. The other “aspects” (i.e., attachments, ego, etc.) are close seconds, but nothing compared to my lack of faith. Your post helped me to uncover this this truth. Thank you.

    Blessings, light and love!

Healing always happens on its own…it’s body intelligence which heals….the medicine or anybody else don’t heal. Outer circumstances just create the suitable environment so that the process of self-healing is either fastened or happens without much resistance. The healers or the medicines simply act like catalysts.

Hi Frans, Kahil Gibran says, “The teacher who indeed wise does not bid you to enter the house of his wisdom but rather leads you to the threshold of your mind.” The threshold of your heart and soul, the threshold of the inner voice of your Higher Self. Masters chuckle when they observe seekers giving their power to them. They send them away with an enigma to figure out. They want them to figure out real power, spiritual power, comes to the seeker in the process of his inner growth. “The blind cannot lead the blind,” said Paramahansaji. “Only a master, one who knows God, may rightly teach others about Him. One who is in constant communion with God.
