Please, develop compassion boundlessly.
This is what my teacher told me once
in a private and intimate audience
please, my dear, develop loving kindness and compassion
not only ordinary restricted compassion
please, develop compassion boundlessly
for each and every single being.
Stepping gratefully out of his sheltered room
I felt this was the utmost precious advice
that I was ever given by a human fellow
since then I keep his words secretly in my heart
please, develop compassion boundlessly
for each and every single being.
As years pass by his clear pointer becomes a perfect guideline
for arising situations I often find myself thrown into
not knowing how to live and act according to the dharma
and being enslaved by the persistent talk of ego-mind
please, develop compassion boundlessly
for each and every single being.
His soft and tender whisper still keeps on calling me
without restrictions I learn to follow and to trust in the path displayed
although it seems that I roam round bewilderedly in circles through samsara
the echo from the master’s encouragement resonates within my nameless self
please, develop compassion boundlessly
for each and every single being.
Full moon is shining brilliantly through the window onto my retreat cushion
within black deep night the self-appearing light is pervading all the space
likewise I feel I can spread my inner natural love
through the light fields of all beings’ unbounded possibilities
please, develop compassion boundlessly
for each and every single being.
May the master’s enlightened wish unfold like sacred mantra speech
and frankly reach the self-existing wisdom that dwells in each and everyone
may I therefore become an ocean of boundless compassion
that quenches the unbridled thirst of all those who are suffering
please, develop compassion boundlessly
for each and every single being.
Please, develop compassion boundlessly
for each and every single being,
please, develop compassion boundlessly
for each and every single being,
please, develop compassion boundlessly
for each and every single being.
