A STORY FROM THE INFINITE MIND OF THE GYALWANG KARMAPA

This story from one of the previous lives of His Holiness Rangjung Rikpé Dorjé, the XVIth Gyalwang Karmapa, was told in 1976, while his party drove through Jalandhara, a place in Himachal Pradesh. It was raining very slightly and peacocks were singing softly. His Holiness had the car stopped and said to his attendants, “I have come back to my motherland”. He then told the following wondrous story.

YOUR WORLD HAS NO HYPOCRISY

Your world has no hypocrisy. It is bright; even darkness is bright; dinner happens in the morning light. Your speech, so well remembered, cuts through naïve beliefs, pops depression, brings a smile to the eyes. To the one who showed me the world, I sing this little song of remembrance and pay homage ceaselessly.

THE FIRST AND LAST YOGA

It was a hot day coinciding with passion. Walking with an eager step like feet that have wings. Walking flying. Walking anticipating. Walking to the moment, soon to meet the guide.
